Aleppo Soap
Our original Aleppo soaps are made from olive oil and laurel oil. The olive oil is ideal for body care because its fatty acid composition is very similar to that of the subcutaneous tissue. It cleans the skin particularly gently and provides long-lasting care. The valuable vegetable oil has a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, which promotes the elasticity of the skin. This makes even dry and sensitive skin velvety soft again. Dry skin benefits from the moisturizing soap because it provides moisture during washing.
Laurel oil, extracted from the fruits of the laurel tree, has antiseptic properties . It is therefore particularly suitable for sensitive skin .

Application of Aleppo soap
For a skin-friendly cleansing, lather a little Aleppo soap with water and massage it into the skin. To achieve the best care effect, the soap should be left on the skin for a few minutes before rinsing it off.
Aleppo soaps are suitable for daily cleaning of hands, face and body. They are also used for dry and flaky scalps. Due to their antiseptic properties, they are also suitable as shaving soap - even for sensitive skin. Our Aleppo hair soap has a particularly high proportion of laurel oil at 30%.
Storing Aleppo Soap
The longer the soaps are stored, the better the quality. The loss of water causes them to harden and become more productive. Aleppo soaps from Jislaine are stored for at least 9 months, but some can be stored for up to 2 years.
The drying process of the soap can be extended at home. To do this, the soap should be stored dry and at temperatures between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius.
When the soap is in use, it should be stored on a soap dish where the water can drain easily so that the soap does not become soft.
Production of Aleppo soap
At the beginning of soap production, olive oil is heated together with water and soda. Then laurel oil is added. During the soap making process, olive oil and laurel oil are converted into their salts sodium olivate and sodium laurate. The resulting thick soap mass is distributed in large basins.Once it has hardened, it is cut by hand into even bars of soap. Each soap is sealed by hand.
The soaps are then stored for several months to dry. During this time, the soaps lose a third of their weight, become hard and turn beige to brown. The core of the soap remains green and soft.
Origin of Aleppo soap
Aleppo soap is named after Aleppo, the second largest city in Syria. The first solid soap was invented here over 3,000 years ago, made from olive oil, laurel oil and plant ash.
With the conquest of the Iberian Peninsula by Islam, soap as a cultural asset came to Europe. The cosmetic triumph of this particularly skin-friendly soap began. Marseille soap, which looks very similar, is a descendant of Aleppo soap, but only consists of olive oil.
Thanks to the return to natural and ecological values, Aleppo soap has regained importance beyond Syria’s borders.
